Conor McKenna won the Channel Islands men’s title in style.

In doing so he became the youngest player from Guernsey to secure the crown.

The 17-year-old beat the experienced Matthew Parkman 8&7 at L’Ancresse.

Parkman is a four-time champion, but had no answers when McKenna effectively won the match in the opening round on Saturday.

The Guernsey junior had opened up a six-hole overnight lead with an impressive short game and Sunday’s round became something of a formality as he secured the cwon on the 29th hole.

It was a weekend for the younger golfers as two juniors battled for the Women’s CI title.

Jersey’s Anabelle Lucas-Villar and Guernsey’s Chloe Gaudion exchanged the lead but in the end it was Lucas-Viller who secured a 2&1 win.

In the Senior Ladies championship, Guernsey’s Di Aitchison beat Brona Lambert, while in the senior men Jersey’s Jeremy Philips saw off Daniel Griggs.

In the Ladies Bronze, Sarnian Jill Pritchard won the title against Susan Thomas.
