The season is young, but already the athletics’ record books are being rewritten with Abi Galpin lowering her 400m mark to 54.96 seconds.
Speaking to the Bailiwick Express Cool Down podcast on the back of the indoor season, the 100m and 200m sprint star had revealed how part of her focus would be on the longer event this year.
In only her second outing over the distance in 2024, she was delighted to take her own island record down from 55.22 seconds at the Aztec Track and Field event on Sunday.
She was not the only island athlete showing form.
Over in the Birmingham, Chris Bain continued his progress over the longer distances by running 8:31.53 over the 3000m.
It put him third on the Guernsey All-Time list behind Lee Merrien (8:00) and Keith Falla (8:22).
Richard Bartram has also climbed up the rankings, this time in the 5000m.
He ran a new PB of 14:48.72 to go up to sixth All-Time.
