Retired footballer and former Sky Sports Soccer AM co-host Jimmy Bullard is teaming up with the Aztech Soccer Arena to host a charity day for Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association.
Taking place on Thursday 14 September at Aztech Soccer Arena, Bullard will host two separate events; one for the island’s young aspiring footballers and an evening Q&A session for adults.
Aimed at raising both awareness and donations for the Alzheimer’s Association, Bullard’s visit will be interactive and action-packed.
His career included spells with Premier League sides Wigan Athletic, Fulham and Hull City.
He will speak about his battles with injury, the challenges he faced as a player, and some of the highlights and hilarious stories from his career.
Rob Jones, founder of the Aztech Soccer Arena, said: “We’re excited to host Jimmy at Aztech, it’s an honour to have such a legend in football and broadcasting come to Guernsey to support such a worthy cause.
“Alzheimer’s is a disease that affects so many people, and Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association is a fantastic charity, supporting those impacted by the disease.
“Football is a community game; you can see how it brings the island together, and this is no exception.”
Julie Thompson, Manager at Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association, said: “This event is shaping up to be a fantastic afternoon and evening of fun and football, all in the name of raising awareness for people with Alzheimer’s and their carers.“
Events start at 4PM, for children aged eight to 11, and 17:15 for those aged 12 to 16. The evening will begin at 19:00 and will include welcome drinks, a Q&A, buffet and a Pro/AM challenge!
