Alastair Chalmers spoke of a “dream come true” after he competed in the London Diamond League on the weekend.
The appearance in a packed London Stadium was his last before he steps on the plane for the Paris Olympics.
Chalmers clocked a below par 49.52s in the 400m hurdles, nearly a second outside his best set in a dramatic national championships three weeks ago.
“Insane atmosphere and a dream come true to be out there doing what I love against the best,” he said after the race.
“Shame I didn't come into this fully healthy but I did my best. I’ll be back fully fit and ready for Paris.”
The race was won by Alison dos Santos in 47.18s, with Roshawn Clarke second with a season’s best 47.63s and Ismail Abakar third with a lifetime best of 47.72s.
Round One of the 400m hurdles at the Olympics is on the morning of Monday 5 August.
It promises to be one of the most competitive fields at the games, with the likes of Karsten Warholm, Alison dos Santos and Rai Benjamin in the mix.
The Olympics open ceremony is on Friday evening along the Seine.
