Ballroom and latin dance competition looks to raise thousands for charity

Tuesday 30 April 2024

Guernsey You Can Dance takes place in June with the aim of raising significant sums for charity.

Since the annual ballroom and latin dance competition was launched two years ago, it has raised just over £15,000 for charities.

This year’s competition will be held at the Saint Pierre Park Hotel on 14 and 15 June with two evening performances and a matinee on 15.

The competition sees 12 people who have never danced before paired with 12 experienced dancers who teach them a two-minute dance over the course of three months.

Each pair dances for a different Bailiwick charity with the hope that the competition will raise enough this year to donate £1,000 to each charity with £2,000 for the one chosen by the winning pair.

Tickets are on sale for Friday 14 June at £55 each (includes a Bucks Fizz reception, two-course meal, the competition and dancing to The Infrequents); Saturday afternoon at £25 each for coffee and cake, and there are a handful of restricted view tickets available for Saturday 15 at £45 each (again includes the Bucks Fizz reception, a 2 course meal and dancing to The Infrequents).
