Paul Le Tocq lost out in the last 16 of the European Senior Championships after a hard-fought game against a higher ranked opponent from Germany.
Competing in the O40s for England, Le Tocq had seen off Robin Van Landeghem (21-14, 21-10) and Oskar Lundqvist (21-15, 21-14) to make it through to face number 5 seed Pascal Histel for a place in the quarter finals.
He lost 21-11, 21-19.
Hot conditions in the hall mean the shuttle is flying fast and Le Tocq struggled for control in the opening stages.
He was 11-4 down in the second game, before coming back to 18-18 before ultimately losing.
Le Tocq’s week in Belgium continues in the mixed and men’s doubles.
He is playing with Kelly Fairey in the mixed and yesterday they moved into the next round with a three sets win against Finland's Miikka Vaisanen and Anne Hintsala (21-18, 15-21, 21-13).
Earlier in the week they beat Germany’s Mathias Birkholz and Katharina Meyer (23-21, 21-12).
In the men's doubles he is partnered with Alex Marritt.
They face Germany's Norbert Ebenhoh and Sascha Frank Firth for a place in the quarter finals today.
Le Tocq and Marritt beat Christian Langhoff and Thomas Nygaard from Norway in their opening match (21-11, 21-8).
