Joe Adams needs surgery on a cruciate ligament injury that has ended his season.
Adams has been on loan from Wigan Athletics at Bradford City.
The midfielder came on as a second half substitute in their goalless draw against AFC Wimbledon, but could not continue after a challenge in the 64th minute.
The game boiled over at the end, with both sides facing FA charges after players clashed in the 91st minute.
Adams will undergo an operation on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, before returning to Wigan to complete his rehabilitation programme.
The 20 year old grew up in Guernsey before making a move to Southampton as a 16 year old to pursue a professional career.
