The Vale War Memorial is being cleaned up.
A protective cover is in place for the work on the structure which stands at the junction of Vale Avenue and Braye Road.
The stone obelisk is contained in a small raised garden with the names of parishioners who died in the First and Second World Wars with the inscription "Vale War Memorial, 1914-18. Pro Patria" in gold.
"The stone is being re-pointed and cleaned, along with re-guilding of the lettering and the black lettering also being re-painted," said Senior Constable Richard Leale.
The outer walls are also being repaired were necessary.
"This is the first time for a great number of years that this work has been carried out using funds from the The Parish Improvement fund."
The granite pillar is topped with a cross and has a cross and sword carved into its body above a Guernsey crest.
The Vale Parish holds an annual memorial service at the monument in November.
