The internet sensation, Jackie Weaver, is bringing her ‘authority’ to Guernsey for a special Women in Public Life event.
Mrs Weaver made international headlines after her role in a Handforth Parish Council Meeting went viral. Her calm assertion of authority during a virtual council meeting resonated with thousands of people in lockdown.
“We were thrilled when Jackie accepted our invitation to come to Guernsey and can’t wait to find out more about the woman behind the Zoom screen,” said Chair of Women in Public Life, Shelaine Green.
“We’re looking forward to her ‘plain old common sense’ advice, including how to assert yourself in the workplace and how to take charge of your life,” she said.

Mrs Weaver will be interviewed by Mrs Green at an event being held at the Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts.
“Jackie is keen to encourage everyone to get involved in local democracy, at whatever level suits them, and we’re sure her considerable experience and wit will help to inspire more Guernsey women to stand as douzeniers, jurats, deputies and tribunal members,” said Mrs Green.
The evening will also give women in public office roles the opportunity to talk to Mrs Weaver, as she discusses the ‘quirks of the island’s unique system of douzeniers and deputies’.

The event starts at 19:00 and tickets can be bought HERE.
