West Show met with the sun

Thursday 16 August 2018

The West Show kicked off down at L'Eree yesterday, and was met with sunshine and crowds of islanders.

Attractions included the lawn mower racing, a BMX stunt show, the Rockwood Dog Display team and more.

Visitors packed the show from early on in the day, and many said they were enjoying what is now passed the 100th show.

Geoff Warren, 54 and a visitor from the UK, said he was enjoying getting a taste of island life: "this kind of event is much like what we always imagined Guernsey and Jersey would be like. It has been great fun looking around all of the exhibits, and the organisers must be happy with the weather too".

As usual, exhibitors turned out en masse to show off their produce, animals, creations, photography and baked goods infront of the show's judging panel.

The tents were filled with the goods yesterday, and were all awarded - today more will be on display.

Today, the West Show continues with more displays and activities for people to enjoy. The same main exhibits - Dexter the dinosaur, the gymnastics, BMX show and dog show will all feature again throughout the day, and the Grand Auction of produce will close the day out at 21:30 in the Exhibit tent.
