After last year's Horse Racing at L'ancresse was a washout, the organisers will be hoping the weather forecast for the May Day Bank Holiday is as good as promised.
Ahead of today the Met Office was promising sunny weather with temperatures above 12c.
The organisers, the Guernsey Race Club is putting on the event today despite making a loss last year when stormy weather ahead of the May Day Bank Holiday meant the visiting horses and their riders couldn't travel to the island. On this occasion 23 horses have been entered from the UK and Jersey and travel arrangements for most appeared to be going to plan.
The equipment was set up on L'ancresse Common last week with the fences and marquee all going up according to schedule.
Costing an approximate £35,000 to stage, the organisers are hoping people will support the races. Tickets for the Prosecco Afternoon Tea which is being staged for the first time today are £35 with free entry to the races. Standard tickets cost £10 on the gate with car parking included nearby. Under 16s are free accompanied by an adult.
The gates are due to open at 11:00 with races at 14:15, 14:50, 15:25, 16:00 and 16:35.
