A landslide above the steps leading to the Cow's Horn overnight has made the area impassable.

The States has confirmed it is aware of the incident following weather that has also caused flooding in multiples areas across the island.

A spokesperson for Agriculture, Countryside & Land Management Services said: "An area of cliff near the Aquarium has subsided overnight (4/5 March) and the adjacent granite walls have fallen away.   The steps adjacent to Clarence battery have also been damaged and access has been closed between La Vallette and Clarence Battery.    

"Engineers from States Property Services have been inspecting the area today.  It is likely that the soft cliff will require stabilisation work before the steps and walls can be reinstated. Walkers are asked to take the cliff path between Clarence Battery, Belvedere and Val de Terres whilst the steps are closed."

Emergency services have been dispatched to some of them, with officers helping to direct traffic in roads such as Route des Coutanchez and Route de la Ramee this morning. 

The Joint Emergency Services Control Centre are being made aware of multiple roads and areas being flooded/impassable by the continuing rain.

JESCC have deployed Officers to assess the areas reported and Guernsey Fire & Rescue are also being deployed to assist.

Guernsey Police said this morning: "Drivers, consider your speed while navigating the Island today and when driving through standing water, keep in mind the effect you will have on properties that line the road as it may cause flooding within the buildings."
