An England flag has been painted on the roundabout at the top of Les Val des Terres, at the junction with Fort Road.
The cross of St George is believed to have appeared in the early hours of this morning, just hours before England take on Croatia in the semi finals of the global tournament.
It is not known who painted the flag on the roundabout but if you know who it was email editor@bailiwickexpress.com
Traffic and Highways Services, which is responsible for the upkeep of Guernsey's roads told Express staff are aware, "and in the spirit of hoping that England go all the way, we won’t be painting over it until the tournament is ended."
A spokesman said they would ask the public not to paint over road markings in this manner however, "as there is a cost in us putting the markings back to normal, but more fundamentally, we recognise the danger that people place themselves in, whilst carrying out such acts in the road."
The States of Guernsey took a light hearted view of the matter generally, but asked people not to repeat it elsewhere.
