Warnings of delays as Grange goes one-way

One of Guernsey's busiest roads is temporarily going one-way for a week so repairs can be made to street lights between two of its key junctions.

The Grange, in St Peter Port, will be one way between the Doyle Road traffic lights and the Upland Road junction from 9am this morning. The decision has been made to make the road one way going down hill between the two sets of lights so repairs can be made to the street lights on the main road.

The States of Guernsey's Traffic and Highways Services team says the road will be one way through that section until 7am on Friday 12 January so those repairs can be made.

The repair works and temporary one-way section has been planned to co-incide with a house move in the area too. A removals company will be working in the one-way section throughout the week to ensure that house move is completed within the allocated time.

While the pavement will remain open to pedestrians throughout, cyclists and motorists will face diversions.

Traffic heading up The Grange, will be diverted along Upland Road, Arsenal Road and Doyle Road. Drivers heading out of town have been advised to consider alternative routes during the next week while the Grange is one-way.
