The Sunflower Project has launched a two-day event for young people who’ve lost a parent or sibling, focusing on reducing their feeling of isolation and rebuilding confidence.
The event is taking place at Rue Mainguy on 12 – 13 August and will involve practical and creative activities developing self-esteem and teamwork.
“As a staff team we feel privileged to work with this group and to be let into their world for a short time,” said Project Lead, Denise Ozanne.
“It is always a weekend of caring and thoughtfulness, fun and silliness, reflection and hope.
“The overwhelming feedback from previous weekends was that the Sunflower Project should do this again and that everyone would recommend it to other bereaved families,” she said.

The residential event will include a visit by ‘Dr Tom’ who helps children and young people ask the tough and persistent questions faced by people who’ve suffered a loss.
The final day will include a barbecue where family members are invited to join the children to reflect on the event and develop new friendships.
It’s open to 8 – 16 year olds, and you can book a place by emailing mair.skillett@youthcomission.gg or calling 226099.
