Three kiosks available to lease

Monday 29 April 2019

Three States owned beach kiosks are still closed despite the summer season officially starting on Good Friday.

The terms of the lease all managers have to sign is that they'll open for a minimum number of weeks per year which always starts on the Friday of the Easter bank holiday weekend, and continues until the end of September.

While the States own 16 fixed coastal kiosks and three mobile sites, they are all leased out to individuals who run them as their own businesses. There are also a number of other kiosks which are owned privately - they include the Icart tea room which has not reopened this year.

Of the States owned kiosks, Rousse, Cobo mobile and La Vallette kiosks are all still closed with efforts being made to find new tenants so they can reopen for the main summer months.

A spokesperson for the States said:

"Many kiosks have been run superbly by the same people for a number of years however, it is not unusual for there to be a small turnover of operators which can be for any number of reasons.

"The only kiosks currently without operators are Rousse, Cobo Mobile and La Vallette all of which are going through open tender processes."
