"Summer vibes and fantastic music" promised at first Hermfest

Monday 08 April 2024

More details have been published ahead of the first Hermfest this summer.

The organisers are calling it the "debut appearance this summer" of the three-day festival - suggesting it could become a permanent fixture on the Channel Islands calendar of events.

Planned for the 12, 13, and 14 July there will be entertainment from "a mix of Channel Island bands", mainly in the the courtyard of the Mermaid Tavern but also on the grass at Herm Harbour, which will be a hub for acoustic sessions during the event.

The organisers - led by Mark Guillou who has had a hand in more musical events across the Bailiwick than can be described - say Hermfest will be a "family friendly festival" with "a diverse line-up with something for everyone".

So far, more than 20 acts have been confirmed to perform at the inaugural Hermfest with "big names" from both Guernsey and Jersey among them.

There will also be a selection of young performers on the stage too.

The plan is for the live music to start at 17:00 on the Friday, and midday on both the Saturday and Sunday. On each of the three days the entertainment will end at 22:00 with boats back to Guernsey at 22:30/23:00 if there is enough demand. There is also accommodation available on Herm at the hotel, in the cottages, or camping for this wanting to stay over.

Hermfest was first announced last month with the additional details released over the weekend.

Ticket prices start at £31 for a one day pass for an adult, which includes an evening meal.

There will also be a limited number of VIP tickets available which will offer a two-course evening meal, with a guaranteed table and private bar on the courtyard Top Deck area of the tavern courtyard.
