Students hit back at claims of "excessive unruly behaviour"

Wednesday 24 January 2024

Several students have taken to Facebook to hit back at claims that a bus they were on was turned around due to "excessive unruly behaviour".

The 5B picked up a group of school children from St Sampsons High on 22 January and subsequently returned to the school less than quarter of an hour later.

Express covered the original story HERE

CT Plus defended the decision to return to the school by arguing that the incident was triggered by "poor behaviour".

“The driver gave a warning that the bus would have to be returned to the school if the poor behaviour continued.

“The school was notified while the poor behaviour continued on the bus and was told that the bus would be returning to the school."

The story generated a lot of feedback on social media, with some suggesting that the bus driver did the right thing, while others suggested that this wasn't the full story.

Several students then took to Facebook to explain "what really happened".

One student posted the following comment under our story:  About five mins [after picking us up] the bus starts to move, and when I say move I mean take off, darting out of the blocks like a horse at Ascot. Some kids lose balance.

"Due to this bad driving, an accident occurred where a standing pupil bashed into the stop button. The bus stopped at the next bus stop as it should next to Oatlands village, obviously nobody got off due to an accident. The bus driver grunts; not saying a word.

"So, before you start mouthing off at us as young people listen to both sides of the story."

Another student from the bus said: "It was the bus driver causing all the chaos because he was speeding and braking heavily which put lives at risk luckily we were holding on to the railings but seriously its an absolute joke!"

Express has reached out to CT Plus for further comment on the incident.
