The States Vet has highlighted the efforts of a "selfless" resident who collected 60 bags of dog waste from a lane in St Martin's, which had been left there by other dog owners.
David Chamberlain titled his social media post: "Dog fouling and littering is not acceptable".
Gypsy Lane is a mainly pedestrian only path which connects Calais Lane with Route de Jerbourg. It runs behind the Baugy Estate and offers access to, and views over, Marble Bay and other scenic spots.
It is very popular with dog walkers, as proved by the 60 bags of waste collected by one person.
Mr Chamberlain said the 60 bags were picked up last week
He said the waste demonstrates a toxic risk to humans and other animals by having been left behind by whoever 'bagged' it in the first place but chose not to bin it.
"A local resident selflessly collected the waste along the lane, totalling 60 bags of dog poo! We cannot emphasise the importance of picking up dog poo and disposing of it suitably in the bin. Not only is it unsightly, dog poo is a source of disease to livestock and humans. Dog poo bags are also a choking hazard to livestock."
He added: "Please pick up after your dogs and dispose of the waste in your black bag waste or a public bin. Thank you."
