The fundraising efforts to replace the damaged Spider's Web climbing equipment at Saumarez Park will be getting a boost from every step taken around the island during this year's Saffery Rotary Walk.
Starter kits for young people setting up their first home, a mini-Olympics for children at St Martins School, and Christmas hampers for unpaid carers are also among the 21 good causes which will be supported by the event which is now in its 26th year.
In total 21 local charities will benefit from this year’s Saffery Rotary Walk which takes place on Saturday 8 June.

All of the money raised through entry fees and sponsorship will be divided into grants allocated to those 21 charities which have all had to specify what they will spend the money on as part of the application process.
The organisers of the walk said the money will be going towards " a diverse range of charity sectors across the island, such as healthcare, sport, social care, arts, leisure and more".
Walk Chairman, Simon Milsted, said it's always hard to choose which charities to support.
“The Saffery Rotary Walk is proud to be supporting 21 wonderful local charities this year. We have the difficult task of deciding which charities will benefit each year, but we are confident in our selection."
“The continued financial support and commitment of our sponsor, Saffery Trust, ensures that all of the money raised by our walkers and those who sponsor them will be available to benefit these local charities.”
Last year saw the event mark its 25th year with walkers from the age of 9 up to 83 taking part.
The 25th annual round island walk was a record breaker in terms of both the number of registered walkers and sponsorship funds raised.
Mr Milsted said he has high hopes for this year's walk.
“We hope to achieve another record-breaking year, both through the number of sign ups and money raised. An Early Bird discounted rate of £32 is still available for those who register for the Walk now, so do not hesitate to do so.”
The round island walk is sponsored by Saffery Trust, something which Director, Lisa Vizia said is very important to the firm.
“It a privilege to be a part of the Saffery Rotary Walk each year, and to see the real difference that the Walk makes to so many lives.
“Saffery Trust’s continued sponsorship of the Walk is so important, and we take this responsibility very seriously. The annual Walk reflects our core values and this contribution to wider island life is a big priority to us.
“The 21 chosen charities are so deserving, and the Guernsey community will benefit immensely from the money raised by this fantastic event. We encourage you to sign up now to play your part in making a real difference to so many charities.”
Registration is open for individuals and relay teams HERE, with details about the family walk due to be released later in the year.
The 21 charities which will benefit from the money raised by the walkers and their sponsors will be spending their grants on a variety of essential kit, infrastructure, and services.
