The judges had already awarded prizes so visitors to the show could see what was deemed the best in show, from marrows and onions to eggs and flowers. The main hall of the community centre was full of local produce and displays and will still be in place for people to see today.

Bay loop tower were also at the show with photos showing the restoration work and a model of the tower. Gary Murchie was delighted to exhibit the new replica carronade which will shortly go on the top of the tower, much like it would have looked hundreds of years ago.

However, the main attraction in the show today took place in the show ground where girls and boys were presented to judges in the bonny baby, terriffic tot and cheerful chld competitons.

Arya McKane, 11 months, was crowned the winner of the bonny baby competion. Her mum Andrea McKane said: "I am really happy, I have never entered this before but because of the amount of people that say 'isn't she cute' I thought I would give it a go. It it actually a lovely day at the South show, I have not been for many years, even thought the weather has not been great its been nice."

There were also competitions for children in craft making and vegitable skulptures. Rachel Walldridge enjoyed the afternoon with her two children, Chloe and Lucy, she said: "They entered a range of competitions and Chloe won the birthday card competition and placed second in both her flower arranging classes. Its a bit of fun but also it keeps everyone in the community together and its a nice thing to get out and about and do."
