“The site is jaw-dropping”

GROW has reached the final stage of its fundraising campaigning, with £500,000 needed to complete its redevelopment project

The £3m. project launched in October last year and is on track to complete in March 2023, if the remaining funds can be secured.

GROW Director, Marguerite Talmage, was pleased that the “landmark” project is on track.

“We have raised over 80% of the funding needed for the redevelopment and we are delighted that the contractors, BW Builders, have kept the project on time and on budget,” she said.

"It is jaw-dropping to see the main facilities building up; and the hospitality training unit is complete and ready to be fitted out; it’s very exciting.”

Mrs Talmage said that “a great deal of thanks” was owed to local contractors and suppliers.

“We have been given discounts on various supplies and works which has been hugely helpful in keeping the project on target,’ she said.

“It really seems as though the island has recognised that this project will benefit to the whole community, and we are so grateful for all the support we have received.”

The remaining £500,000 required to finish the project will be needed before March next year.

“We are very confident that we will be able to raise the remaining funds before next spring,” said Mrs Talmage.

“If anyone is interested in donating towards the project I would encourage them to contact me.”

Redevelopment works include a workshop for wood and metal working, a paint shop and craft area, glasshouses and a training facility.

GROW has continued to operate from a temporary site at Avondale Vinery while the works are ongoing at the Les Petits Quartiers.

Speaking to Express last month, Redevelopment Project Director, Angus Bodman, said that project was “island wide”.

“This project would not have been possible without the support of the Guernsey public. When the redevelopment is complete, it will be something that the whole island can be proud of and enjoy,” he said.
