All welcome as Full-Boar MC celebrate milestone anniversary

Friday 12 July 2024

A quarter of a century ago, the Full-Boar MC was founded - this weekend their members will be celebrating with a party that's open to everyone.

There'll be live music, refreshments, and of course - lots of motorbikes!

It is the bikes that brought the original members together 25 years ago and it is their love of motorbikes, riding, and socialising together that has helped the Full-Boar MC go from strength to strength over the years.

"The Full-Boar MC is a motorcycle club for males who must have a full motorcycle license and a running bike all year of 600cc or over," explained Vice President Shane Rosamond. "We are an independent club not affiliated to a larger national or international club or organisation."

Shane was one of the founding members of the Full-Boar MC when he was a young man with an inherent love of motorcycles which he shared with his dad, other family members, and many friends.

The club was formed by members of a local Harley Club, which had its mother chapter in Switzerland, explained Shane.

"We remain good friends with them and often socialise with them to this day," he said.

"Some of us then younger members were partying alot in the UK on the biker scene and decided that was more our thing and decided to start our own club based on the traditional 3-piece back patch club and being an MC rather than Harley Club opened us up to a wider membership potential albeit most of our members still give preference to Harleys."

Of the original members who formed the Full-Boar MC 25 years ago, 75% remain part of the club said Shane, proving the longevity of their friendships.

"I was aged 21 when we formed and am a proud founder member and Vice President of the club," he said.

"We do have extremely good relationships with a mixture of other like minded off island clubs.

"Although a modern club we still value old school values such as a roughly 2-year membership process called 'Prospecting' and we also uphold that you only hold membership once."

After 25 years there are countless stories to share - many of which may be discussed at tomorrow's 25th anniversary event at Northfield.

"In regard to special memories there are many, we used to hold the annual Hogwash bike show, the Oakley Spin and have been involved in events such as The Gathering and Lock In Guernsey," recalled Shane.

"We have also provided on island security for the likes of Macey Gray, Example, Kaiser Chiefs and Ocean Colour Scene to name a few which all came with their own stories!

"My own personal favourite times are runs away on the bikes, be it a couple of us or the whole club. There is no better feeling than getting off island be it the UK or Europe.

"With it being our 25th anniversary this year we have made a huge effort to go and visit lots of our friends either for a big event, party, general get together or sadly some funerals, be it fly in for a night or away on the bikes."

25th anniversary and bike show

After their involvement in organising events such as the Hogwash, the Gathering, and Lock-In Guernsey, it's fair to say the Full-Boar MC know how to throw a party.

This weekend will see a family friendly event at Northfield during the day and early evening, with adults only permitted after 20:00.

Shane says it's open to everyone, but he wants people to use the bus, cycle, or walk to get there - unless they're coming by motorbike!

"Saturday's event although based around motorcycles, bikers, and motorcycle enthusiasts, the public are more than welcome to come along and join us.

"Under 18s are welcome until around 8pm and there will be face painting for the kids and some bouncy castles.

"It is a 'no whistles and bells' affair," he said. "(There'll be) motorbikes to look at, live music from 4.30pm and a chance to have a beer and chill out and meet people.

"Unfortunately there is only motorcycle parking but Guernsey is a small place so jump on the bus or hop on your pushang!

"Northerners will be running the bar, we have a couple of food vendors and other stalls including the old Guernsey favourite Crown and Anchor, this will be operating cash only."

The 25th anniversary and bike show will run from 12noon until midnight, with no camping permitted.

"We do respectfully ask that riders are sensible when arriving and leaving the event. Entry is free!," added Shane.
