Search off as missing child is found

Saturday 03 September 2022

A coastguard search was called off after a missing child was found by a member of the public last night.

Soon after 17:00 yesterday, Friday, the parents called the emergency services to report that their child had gone missing from the beach at Moulin Huet on the south coast.

Minutes later, the RNLI's inshore lifeboat, Elizabeth and Margaret Milligan, was launched to search for the child.

It was soon joined by the Channel Islands Air Search aircraft and the St. Peter Port all-weather lifeboat, Spirit of Guernsey.

However, just before 18:00, a member of the public reported being with the missing child. This was confirmed by a Police officer.

All search and rescue craft were stood down soon after.

No further details have been released about the incident.
