Scrutiny to question new Policy & Resources Committee

Tuesday 20 April 2021

The Scrutiny Management Committee will be drilling down into the Government Work Plan when it holds its first public hearing of the political term this week.

A three-member Scrutiny panel will question representatives of the new Policy & Resources Committee, with a primary focus on the Government Work Plan.

The first iteration of the plan, which aims to set a roadmap for Guernsey's post-pandemic recovery, was passed by the States last month. Decisions will be made on which government projects to fund, which to drop and what revenue-raising measures will be needed to finance them later this year.

“This public hearing with the Policy & Resources Committee will focus principally on the Government Work Plan, including the process used to arrive at stage 1 of the Plan," said Scrutiny President Deputy Yvonne Burford.

"It will seek to provide clarity around how future decisions will be made concerning the workstreams to be undertaken this term. The panel welcomes this opportunity to publicly examine the progress made to date and we will seek to establish additional information regarding this important document.”

The public hearing will be held in Room 6 at the Royal Court, between 10:00 and 12:00 on Friday 23 April, when Deputy Burford will be joined by Deputies John Dyke and Peter Roffey.

Members of the public are welcome to attend in an observational capacity but will not be able to ask questions or make any comments whilst the hearing is in progress.
