Running Festival this weekend

Saturday 16 April 2022

The EY Easter Running Festival, which began yesterday, offers a series of four races in four days across the holiday weekend after a two-year break due to the covid-19 pandemic.

A 5k race, 4.75-mile multi-terrain race, one-mile cross-country relay and 10k race are on offer and competitors can enter as many of the races as they wish.

But only athletes completing all three individual races - so excluding the team relay - will be eligible for overall prizes. Prizes are also to be awarded for every race separately.

There are also races every day for young athletes from under-sevens to under-17s.

Guernsey Athletics said that the Festival has a reputation for quality and friendly competition for all ages.

They said: “We are very grateful to our sponsors EY, supported by RG Falla. Thanks also go to all the club members and volunteers who make the Festival a success, the States of Guernsey, particularly Education, Sport & Culture and Environment & Infrastructure."

They also thanked the Vale Commons Council, Police and Civil Protection volunteers for facilitating the Festival.

The festivals sponsor, EY, said it was delighted to be supporting sport in the community.

“With up to 200 runners over the Bank Holiday weekend, the Festival is a fantastic initiative to promote health and well-being in Guernsey,” said EY.
