Rugby legend Gavin Henson's greatest achievement was in... Guernsey?

He played 33 times for Wales, twice winning the Grand Slam, and was capped by the British and Irish Lions.

His club career spanned 10 different sides including Ospreys, Saracens, Bath and Bristol.

He even took part in Strictly Come Dancing.

But Gavin Henson's maverick skills, which dazzled so much on the pitch, seem to have struggled to make a mark with his rugby player father Alan.

When asked by The Times Chief Rugby Correspondent Owen Slot what his son's best game ever was, he got an unusual answer.

"His best achievement? Getting the boat we had through the small gap into the marina in Guernsey. I thought... that's the end of the boat."

Henson reportedly rolled his eyes and laughing said: "That was the only time I ever impressed him."

He retired in 2019 at the age of 37 and now runs a pub in St. Brides Major, near Bridgend.

The Fox is just across the road from where he grew up.

Wales host England in the Six Nations on Saturday, a game that was in jeopardy with a strike by Welsh players only averted following a series of crisis talks on Wednesday and a Welsh Rugby Union climbdown over contracts.

The 40 strong Guernsey Welsh Male Voice Choir will be performing alongside other singers in front of the 70,000 spectators before kick-off.

They will be signing the national anthems as well as the traditional Cym Rhondda (Bread of Heaven).

They were due to perform in 2020, but that was called off at the last minute because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Wales v England game begins at 16:45.
