The wind scuppered the plans for last weekend, but nothing should stop Roary the Lion scaling the Tree of Joy to put the star on top of the Weighbridge mast today.
The Guernsey FC mascot was meant to go 110 feet up the side of the mast in a cherry picker last Sunday but the wind meant it wasn't safe to do so. It was postponed until tomorrow but with the wind expected to pick up again it is going to happen this morning instead.
The Tree of Joy has been put up every year since 2004 by the Rotary Club, to coincide with its campaign to provide gifts for deserving local children.
The mast will be lit up in bright lights throughout the festive season, from next Thursday when it will be switched on, ahead of the main Christmas lights being turned on in Town and at the Bridge.

Jerry Girard from the Rotary Club of Guernsey said:
“I am sure that people will enjoy seeing the mast illuminated at Christmas time and this will no doubt add to their festive spirit. The Rotary Club hopes that this, in turn, will encourage the general public to take a gift tag and purchase a Christmas present, which the Club can then arrange to be delivered to a deserving child, for he or she to open on Christmas morning.
"This surely represents what Christmas is all about - bringing joy to a child on Christmas Day”.
Tags for the donated gifts are available at most banks, the main Post Office, the Visitor Centre, Creasey’s Toy Shop and Aladdin’s Cave.
The Rotary Club of Guernsey also said thank you to PwC, Bank of Butterfield and the International Energy Group, for sponsoring the campaign.
