R.G. Falla Ltd - recently renamed Hurel Limited - has gone into voluntary liquidation, bringing to an end nearly seven decades of dominance in the construction industry in Guernsey.
A number of newly established firms including R.G. Falla Small Works and R.G. Falla Construction Ltd, both registered for the first time in Guernsey last year, are operating as normal as they are entirely separate to the older firm of a similar name which no longer exists.

R.G. Falla Limited was founded in 1956 and was responsible for building a large number of prominent buildings in Guernsey over the course of the past 66 years including schools, offices, residential and civic properties.
It was part of the Garenne Group which went into liquidation at the end of March after it was found to be insolvent.
That came soon after the Garenne Group's Jersey-based construction firm Cameron's had collapsed. Shortly after that, Rabeys Garage in Guernsey went under, followed by the Jersey branch.
Other businesses formerly owned by the Garenne Group have been saved through management buyouts - with Geomarine being sold off that way in January of this year and AFM and Granite Le Pelley confirming their management buy outs over Easter.

On contacting R.G. Falla this morning, Express was told that R.G Falla Limited comes under the Garenne Group, while R.G. Falla Construction Ltd is a separate entity.
The liquidators handling the Garenne Group's interests had not replied to a request for comment by the time of publication.
R.G. Falla Limited was rebranded as Hurel Limited in March of this year and on 6 April Hurel Limited went into voluntary liquidation.
The R.G. Falla brand still exists through a number of separately owned, newly established firms - some of which were set up very recently.
R.G. Falla Construction Ltd was registered in Guernsey in August last year, Falla Small Works Ltd was registered in December 2022, and Falla Infrastructure Ltd was registered in January of this year.
Falla Construction Ltd was registered in 1996 and remains open for business today.
All of the above businesses - those with 'RG' in the name, and those registered as 'Falla' - list Garenne House, at Garenne Park, as their registered office address. They are all separate to the former R.G. Falla Ltd, recently known as Hurel Limited.
Express reached out to the liquidators appointed by Hurel Limited and the Garenne Group this morning but had not received a response by the time of publication.
