A plan to introduce a regular inter-island foot passenger ferry service this year has fallen through.
Instead, Island Unlimited will take bookings for Manche Iles Express sailings, concentrating on those from Jersey to Sark and Guernsey, while also offering bespoke activity packages.
The 2024 Schedule on Islands Unlimited website shows a Guernsey to Jersey day trip option on Saturday 29 June, 13 July, 27 July, 10 August, 24 August and 14 September.
In November, Islands Unlimited said they were in the final stages of establishing a seasonal foot-passenger service primarily between Guernsey and Jersey to start in the Spring, with some sailings to Alderney.
Alderney has been dropped from the latest plan.
“Whilst we had an agreement with the owners of a suitable vessel, due to changes of circumstances on behalf of the owners, we have had to change our business model,” a spokesperson said.
“However, we are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Manche Iles, who are operating a vessel between the Islands in 2024.
“We will be able to use their vessel to not only offer sailings between the islands but, something we have been very keen on from the beginning, also present daytrip packages from and to Guernsey, Jersey and Sark. Customers can choose from various daytrip options and book through our website.
“Whilst we have run out of time for this year due to circumstances beyond our control, we already work behind the scenes to be able to introduce a dedicated regular passenger service between the islands for 2025. In the meantime, we are excited to be able to offer additional services for travellers for this year.”
Manches Iles Express has been handling ferry links between La Manche in Normandy and the Channel Islands since 2005, sailing from Granville, Carteret and Dielette.
They use the Granville which can take 245 passengers and the Victor Hugo which caters for 90.
