Local attraction the Guernsey Aquarium has announced it will only be operating for one day a week over the winter months.
The Aquarium re-opened in June 2017 after a seven month refurbishment with a brand new look and renewed emphasis on the marine exhibits to make it a more viable visitor attraction but on Sunday a handwritten note was stuck to the door and the premises were closed.

The announcement of its winter closure was also made on Facebook where owner Marita Iverson stated: "any prior bookings will be honoured ie school trips etc, apologies to anyone who may be inconvenienced by this decision"
A further post on Monday clarified that both the attraction and the shop would be open every Saturday throughout the remaining winter months with the Aquarium scheduled to re-open seven days a week from 24 March 2018.
The posts generated a response from many offering support, but also those with questions about refunds on vouchers bought for Christmas and those with annual memberships. Local mum Nicola Bacon bought an annual membership for her son Joe, she said: "he is really upset as he has an annual membership and its his favourite place. We were disappointed last time we visited as so many of the attractions had closed that it was ridiculous2
