With Christmas almost a dim and distant memory, it's hoped people will take advantage of the many opportunities to recycle while taking down the decorations and cards.
As well as the much publicised tree recycling service - which sees real firs mulched and made available as compost for public and private gardens, there are also other services available.
The Accidental Zoo is a potential visitor attraction in the planning in Guernsey. At the moment it is not open publicly, but the family behind it are building up their experience looking after various small animals. That includes goats which are known to enjoy eating Christmas trees.
For £5, The Accidental Zoo will pick up your tree and use it as feed. They'll also split the money with the Cheshire Home while investing its half of the takings back into the zoo project.
As well as trees, many people will have various cards and giftwrap around still and that can all be easily disposed of in most cases.
So long as they don't contain foil or glitter, your cards can be put into a clear recycling bag or into the bring banks for paper/cardboard. Any cards with foil or glitter on the front can still be recycled so long as the cardboard parts of the card are separated first.
Other cardboard items which are mixed with metal, including Pringles tubes, can also be recycled if they are separated first.
The recycling centre at Longue Hougue is open today, with a wide variety of items on the approved list for the waste reclamation site. That means that anyone planning a post-Christmas clear out or early spring clean can dispose of many items for free, which can then be reused or recycled.
