Raiders face off against Guernsey Cricket for charity match

Monday 11 January 2021

After successfully beating the Guernsey Lions in a charity cricket match, the Guernsey Raiders will be swapping sports again by taking on Guernsey Cricket in a football match in support of the Cheshire Home.

The match will take place at the end of the moth with free entry, food and drinks available for purchase, and a collection bucket to be passed around during the match.

Jordan Reynolds, Director of Rugby for the Raiders, was delighted when Guernsey Cricket accepted his club's challenge.

"With our rugby season having been cancelled due to the pandemic, we have been looking at different ways for the team to keep fit and stay connected with each other," he said.

"A charity football match seemed like a fresh idea for us to achieve this, and to support the community."

Guernsey Cricket Captain Josh Butler is looking forward to taking on rugby side in a cross-code match-up. "It's great to be able to mix with another local sport, something I don't feel that we do enough of."

"I'm sure there will be plenty of chat from both sides, followed by a friendly drink after."

The charity football match between Guernsey Raiders and Guernsey Cricket will take place on 30 January at Footes Lane. Gates will open at noon ahead of kick off at 14:00.

'Hospitality' tickets are also available at £30 per head, which come with a 2-course meal to be served before the match. Those who are interested in this are asked to contact chris@leapfrogjobs.com to secure a place.
