The island's newest eatery - The Puffin & Oyster - opens tonight on the site of the former Houmet Tavern at Le Grand Havre.

The Liberation Group is promising "the very best, award-winning food and drink and excellent hospitality" following its latest extensive renovation of an iconic local pub and restaurant.

Guests included the President of the Committee for Economic Development, Deputy Neil Inder, who said he was impressed with the transformation of the pub and welcomed its addition to the island's hospitality offer.

The Puffin & Oyster offers alfresco drinking and dining and a heated covered terrace as well as a variety of eating spaces inside, including multiple tables with sweeping views across the bay.

The menu specialises in seafood, such as oysters, calamari, crab, scallops and roasted skate wing, and also includes pub food classics and fresh flatbread pizzas.

The bar stocks a wide selection of wine and cocktails, craft beer, real ale and cider from Liberation’s award-winning brewery.

After opening tonight, The Puffin & Oyster will be open from lunchtime until late Monday to Sunday.

Jayson Perfect, Group Managing Director of Pubs and Inns at the Liberation Group, said the remodelled venue "looks incredible, inside and out".

"It’s quite a transformation. We’re looking forward to showing off what we’ve done and to welcoming guests once again to this beautiful spot on the island," said Mr Perfect.

"The high-end interiors and styling reflect what’s going on in the kitchen and behind the bar – the very best, award-winning food and drink and excellent hospitality.

"This refurbishment is the latest in a series of ongoing investment projects which have created exciting employment opportunities on the island as well as supporting much-needed tourism - following on from improvements we’ve made at The Ship & Crown, Thomas de la Rue and The Deerhound most recently."
