A new public access defibrillator is now available for all those who need it outside of GADOC’s base at Delancey thanks to a corporate donation.

The Cardiac Action Group has installed over 100 24-hour defibrillators across the Bailiwick and has provided cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator training to over 3,000 islanders since 2018.

Early defibrillation is crucial in cases of cardiac arrest, and prompt use of CPR and a defibrillator can improve chances of survival by 10% per minute.

The new PAD outside GADOC on Rue Des Monts Is the third device donated by Ravenscroft, with others positioned outside its town offices and at Beau Sejour.

“GADOC is extremely thankful to Ravenscroft for their generous donation which has enabled the Club to fit a defibrillator on the premises,” its Chair, Martine Legg, said.

“St Sampson’s has been the Club’s home for over 70 years, and we are delighted to be able to enhance the community’s emergency response capabilities as well as being able to provide potentially life-saving treatment to our members.”

The closest defibrillators to GADOC are at the Delancey education campus and the Jubilee Day Centre just before New Road.

“It is a pleasure for us at Ravenscroft to have now provided three defibrillators to the island although of course our hope is that they are never needed,’ said Mark Bousfield, Managing Director of investments.
