Primary School registration now open

Wednesday 20 September 2023

Children due to start primary school next September, need to be registered for a place within the next month.

Parents and carers in Guernsey and Alderney with children due to turn four before the end of August 2024 need to formally apply for a place at their catchment school or an out-of-catchment place if necessary.

The register will close at 15:00 on Friday 20 October 2023, with any applications received after then dealt with only after all the previously submitted ones have been assessed.

Education says "it is very important that children are registered for a school place by 20 October 2023 as the year group sizes can influence the resources allocated to each Primary School.

"It is expected that parents/carers will be informed by Education Operations of their child’s allocated Primary school by the end of the Spring Term." school catchment areas

Application forms are available on the States website, along with a map showing the schools' catchment areas.

The completed application forms should be returned directly to the schools, along with proof of address, a copy of the child’s birth certificate, and photographic proof of the parent or carer’s identity.

Children who are baptised Catholic may be registered at either Notre Dame du Rosaire Catholic Primary School or St Mary & St Michael Catholic Primary School directly - with proof of a Catholic baptismal certificate along with the other evidence listed above.

Out of catchment schools

Any parent or carer wanting to request an out-of-catchment school place for their child must still apply to their catchment school while also sending a PC-OCAPS request form to Education Operations.

Further information on this is available at gov.gg/schooladmissions.
