Thursday 19 August 2021

Three youths who set fire to paper and candles in the Town Church and then poured hot wax over hand-stitched cushions have been asked to turn themselves in.

Between 17:40 and 17:50 on Monday 9 August, CCTV reportedly shows three juvenile males causing damage to cushions and to the floor, after using matches in the church to burn paper and candles.

A spokesperson for Guernsey Police said the boys are believed to be around 13 to 15 years old.

“Guernsey Police are appealing for information regarding this and are giving the juveniles involved the opportunity to come forwards to police,” they said, adding: “This incident has been captured on CCTV.”

Witnesses of anti-social behaviour in or around Town Church are asked to contact PC 177 Le Galloudec on 222 222 or to contact CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
