Police cars to show their pride

Monday 03 September 2018

Guernsey Law Enforcement will be showing off their colours this week - with two of the force's cars being rebranded ahead of this coming weekend's Pride events in the island.

C I Adjusters Limited is sponsoring the initiative which will come to fruition thanks to the creative skills of Dowding Signs.

The two vehicles will be ‘Pride’ branded ahead of the weekend, and will be seen on the roads from tomorrow, Tuesday 4 September.

Diversity Liaison Officer, PC 112 Kieran Walsh of Guernsey Police said it was a great idea, he was very pleased to be involved with.

"Bailiwick Law Enforcement are always keen to show their support and engage with the wider community," he said, "especially at events such as Channel Island Pride.

"For this reason, this year we have taken the opportunity to add a bit of fun and colour into our fleet by branding two vehicles with CI Pride logos.

"Our role in the Bailiwick is to keep people safe and secure which is why the Guernsey Police & Border Agency have chosen to visually demonstrate its support.

"Inclusion is a key factor in building relationships and creating teamwork within the Island. It’s important to remember that no matter who you are, regardless of your background, age, gender, sexual orientation, race, hierarchy, religion, or beliefs – we are here to help."

Pride is taking centre stage in Guernsey this week, ahead of the main events at the weekend. There is a Pride pop up shop in Smith Street, runners at Parkrun on Saturday wore rainbow laces and will do again on Saturday 8 September, a number of equality flags are due to be flown publicly and there will be a parade through St Peter Port and party in the Market Square on Saturday to bring the community together.

The majority of the events have been organised by the equality charity Liberate.
