Polar Bears swimming in Guernsey?

Tuesday 25 December 2018

Guernsey's best - or more likely, bravest - swimmers will be jumping into the bathing pools early this morning, even though it's Christmas.

The annual Polar Bear Swim will once again be taking place at the Vallette Bathing Pools, courtesy of the Guernsey Swimming Club.

Swimmers will dive in to the cold from 09:30, and it will run on until 11:00, so people will have time to get out of the water and dry off and be home in time for their Turkey lunch.

The event is open free of charge to anyone who wishes to take part, of any age. Certificates for participants will be provided by the Guernsey Swimming Club, and will be being signed as an official mark to say that you took place.

The Club said: "This always proves to be a fantastic atmosphere down at the pools and we hope to see lots of you there braving the water."

The Polar Bear Swim has been being organised for a number of years now - for more information about the event in the past, present or future, go to the Guernsey Swimming Club's Facebook page here.
