Paw-some new dog wash launched at Co-op En Route

Thursday 06 May 2021

Mucky pups can now be taken to a new dog washing facility at one of the Co-op's En Route stores.

The En Route forecourt along Les Bas Courtils now plays host to a "convenient and fast" dog cleaning machine.

How does it work?

The dog wash is next to the air and water tower at the forecourt and is suitable for all dog breeds. The side of the “bath” acts as a door for easy access and there are clips to attach to your dog’s collar, so users have both hands free for washing.

Shampoo and conditioner are released through the hose and there is also a dryer.

The cycles can be paused so users can make sure they haven’t missed any patches of sand or mud in their dog’s coat.

The cost to use the unit for a 10-minute wash cycle will be £8, although larger or very mucky dogs may need a bit longer.

Nick Crolla from Rubis, who partnered with the Co-op on the project, said the site had been chosen because it would make a "convenient pit stop" for dog walkers along the front.

"In the Channel Islands we have some beautiful coastal and country walks but that also means our beloved dogs are likely to end up rather mucky and even stinky.

"These self-service units are a common occurrence at forecourts in Europe and, together with the Co-operative Society, we decided we wanted to provide them locally. This adds value to their visit to our forecourts."

The Society’s Chief Development Officer, Jim Plumley, added: "The Co-op is very community focused and the dog wash is a way of making a visit to our retail forecourts even more of a pleasure for our canine-loving shoppers."
