Travel Trident start public sailings between St Peter Port and Herm today, but passengers can only book online with restricted times to ensure Public Health guidelines are met as the islands continue to move out of lockdown.

Herm is open to visitors from within the Bailiwick again, but social distancing must be adhered to onboard the ferries, and within the Mermaid Tavern, White House Hotel and other public areas.

To control the number of people going on each sailing, Travel Trident has launched a temporary online booking system.

Tickets are only available up to a week in advance, for day returns only - with return times allocated when you book your outward trip. This means that those sailing to Herm at 10:00 will have to return at 14:45, those sailing at 11:15 will have to sail back at 16:00 and those travelling over at 12:30 will be on the 17:30 return.

No ticket sales will be available from the kiosk in town while the social distancing measures are in place, but staff will be there to answer questions.

Herm is also open to those with their own boats, with restricted opening hours at the Mermaid Tavern and a limit on the number of customers able to enter the licenced premises.

From Tuesday 9 June the Mermaid will be open throughout June, except Mondays, between 10:30 and 17:00 with the last food orders at 15:30. Pre-booking is required with table service and cashless payments only.

From next week, Monday 15 June - the White House Hotel and the Herm cottages will also be open to guests again. Anyone booked to stay in Herm overnight, or for longer, will be contacted directly by the reservations team to book their Trident tickets.
