A campaign has been launched to get everyone to 'clap for the kids' this afternoon, to recognise the huge upheaval the corona virus pandemic has caused in the lives of the youngest ones in our communities.
With schools, play groups, nurseries, and every extra curricular activity closed, their day to day routines have been altered.
Play dates are also off, and despite the fact that parents and carers are home, for many it doesn't mean an increase in family fun times as a large proportion of people are working from home.
Groups like IslandMums Together have been formed to share resources and ideas to help keep everyone's spirits up during the lockdown.
Now, following on from a national campaign to clap to show support for frontline health workers on Thursday evenings, a new initiative has been formed to show how proud we are of our children, by clapping for them this afternoon.
The poster has been shared by some people in Guernsey on social media sites, who hope the idea will be picked up locally, with a round of applause ringing out for the Bailiwick's children at 15:00 this afternoon.
