One of the owners of Oatlands Village said he is "determined" to ensure that a new drive-through will not adversely effect residents of the area, as he also sought to allay concerns that it would be serving up junk food.
Plans were recently approved to construct an 'order point' in the main car park, and additional kitchen space to facilitate a takeaway within the village.
After concerns were raised on the impact this would have on the surrounding area and the character of the village itself, Co-owner Chris Coles said Oatlands will remain a 'high quality environment for the whole family.'
"We are determined to manage this in such a way that it will not adversely affect neighbours," he said.
Others were concerned about what food might be made available at the drive-through. If it were to offer fast food, for instance, some feared that this would have a negative impact on the students of nearby schools, by making unhealthy options more accessible to them.
"This facility will offer outstanding and healthy food, in the quickest possible time due to significant investment in the latest technology," said Mr Coles.
"Healthy options and zero or low waste are a focus of ours. This will provide additional employment and assist us in continuing to invest in creating a high quality environment where islanders can be entertained, learn, eat and shop at local businesses; our small effort to push back against off-island, online shopping."
