The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has accepted a pay offer from Policy & Resources. Meanwhile, the Committee has also announced a review of the feasibility of pay parity once the final unions in the Agenda for Change Unions group follow suit.
The review would be run in conjunction with the unions and the purpose of it would be to establish what all parties understand pay parity to be and “whether achieving it is desirable and, if so, the extent to which that is feasible”.
Local members of the Royal College of Nursing have recently accepted a pay deal offered to them. The unchanged pay offer is as follows: an uplift of 5% plus a £500 payout in 2022, which is above inflation, a 7% rise this year (based on June 2022’s inflation figure), and a rise of RPIX (based on June 2023 inflation) minus 1% in 2024.
The Agenda for Change Unions include the RCN and Unite (which has also accepted the pay offer). The remaining unions yet to accept the offer are the RCM and Prospect.
The latest update comes courtesy of the Deputy Industrial Disputes Officer, Kate Brown, who indicated that both the RCN and Unite have accepted the pay offer.
“As a result of ongoing discussions with the Deputy Industrial Disputes Officer, RCM and Prospect intend to re-survey members with a commitment to review the feasibility of pay-parity on acceptance of the unchanged pay offer. RCN and Unite have already accepted the pay offer.”
The review will be carried out by a joint working group of representatives from the States of Guernsey and the relevant unions. The review is expected to take 12 months.
