Notre Dame receives 'extremely positive' Ofsted inspection

Tuesday 04 April 2023

Notre Dame du Rosaire Catholic Primary School has been deemed good in four categories and excellent in one by Ofsted.

In response, the Headteacher of the school, Mary Robertshaw, said "we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised such hugely positive outcomes for all our pupils".

Ofsted reported the following results from the school:

The report has highlighted several attributes of Notre Dame that led to the school receiving such a good report. This included 'epitomising' inclusion, a culture of respect among students and teachers and the work exuding 'moral purpose'.

A tailored curriculum is said to, in some cases, exceed the requirements of the Bailiwick curriculum.

Guernsey's Director of Education, Nick Hynes, said: "This Ofsted inspection report is a credit to Mary and her team. The inspection report is a glowing reflection of the standard of education delivered at the school.

"Very few inspections carried out nationally achieve these kinds of grades so I really can’t stress enough how impressive this is. I would like to thank and congratulate all staff at the school."

The President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, has congratulated both Ms Robertshaw and her staff for the result.

"I have stated many times before that external inspections are crucial to ensure that the community is clear about the standards being achieved by our settings and this is also a core part of our Education Strategy," she said.

"External inspections allow us to celebrate successes and focus on addressing issues, but the importance of having that external validation remains regardless of the outcome. In the case of Notre Dame, on behalf of the Committee I want to congratulate Mary and her staff for the incredibly positive inspection report, which is a credit to all that they are achieving at the school."
