Guernsey Airport is going to be closed to passengers on Saturdays, amid a further reduction in air services to and from the Bailiwick, lasting until the end of May at least.
The changes will see the airport terminal closed on Saturday, with weekday and Sunday operating hours also reduced again, because of the significant decrease in passenger numbers.
A spokesman for Guernsey Airport said airlines had been consulted about the changes before the decision was made.
“In response to the continued drop in scheduled aircraft movements because of travel and other restrictions introduced by the States of Guernsey to stop the spread of the covid-19 virus in the Bailiwick. Guernsey and Alderney Airports, in consultation with its key customers and stakeholders, will both be further revising their respective operating hours, with effect from 00:01 9 April 2020 to Sunday 31 May 2020 inclusive.”
“There are no changes to current medevac operations out of the Bailiwick including the transportation of urgent medical and pathology supplies.”
