New travel guide for Guernsey Airport launched

Sunday 20 November 2022

A new guide for travellers with non visible disabilities has been published to help people make their way around, and through Guernsey Airport.

Here we give you a sneak peak of what it includes so you can use it to plan your journey, or a journey someone close to you needs to make.

With large font and bright colours and images on a white background it is likely to be easy to use by many people.

The language used is simple and jargon-free.

The leaflet tells the story of arriving at the airport, by either public transport or car, before explaining how people can navigate the check in area before being met by staff behind the check-in desks.

The brochure takes readers from there through security with hints about how to deal with the scanners and the rules and restrictions for taking through liquids or other items.

It goes on to offer advice for what to do if your flight is delayed, and information on the process for boarding planes.

It also offers advice for returning to the island and entering the airport as an 'arrival'.

The travel guide has been produced by Guernsey Airport in conjunction with Autism Guernsey. It is described as a "visual guide and tips for travellers when planning a journey by plane".
