Eight new car parking spaces will be installed in Salerie car park this weekend specifically for smaller cars.
The new spaces are aligned with the Integrated Transport Strategy, which seeks to “encourage the use of smaller and more environmentally friendly cars in the island”.
In a media statement, the States of Guernsey said:
“The new small parking spaces, which will be installed where the recycling bins previously were, will be 10 hours in duration in keeping with the majority of parking spaces in the car park.
“As a reminder, for small parking spaces, the body of a car must fit within the inner lines of the marked boxes, which are 3.7m long by 2.1m wide.
“Most of the other spaces in the car park are also being repainted on Sunday and therefore the majority of the car park will be closed to enable this to take place, weather permitting.
“However, existing small car parking spaces will still be available and the vehicle size restriction on those spaces will be suspended during the works to enable nearby residents to use them.”
