The four unions representing Guernsey's nurses have been offered a new pay deal, in a bid to stave off the threat of strikes.
A meeting was held yesterday which resulted in 'progress' according to the Policy & Resources Committee which deals with the island's public sector pay negotiations.
P&R said:
"Further negotiations have been held today (Monday) between the Policy & Resources Committee and four unions representing the ‘Agenda for Change’ pay group. Today’s negotiations were supported by the Industrial Disputes Officer who acted as conciliator.
"The Policy & Resources Committee believes the discussions were constructive. A revised offer has been made and the Committee looks forward to hearing back formally from the unions with what is hoped will be a positive response."
A high profile campaign calling for a revised offer has included encouraging motorists to 'honk' in support of their calls for better pay, and a march through town which was supported by hundreds of members of the public.
