New fees for Aurigny's Alderney passengers

Saturday 02 March 2019

Aurigny is changing the way it charges passengers flying between Alderney and Southampton to bring it into line with its other services.

The airline hasn't previously charged for making changes on bookings for flights on the 'life line route', but from now on any changes will incur fees.

The airline said that; "to bring the service in line with all our other UK operations, customers purchasing our ‘Lowest Fare’ option will now be subject to a £40 charge, per person per sector for any amendments to their bookings on this route. Customers purchasing “Flexible Fares” will still be able to change bookings for free."

The new charges came in this week, but anyone who had booked their flights prior to that, or anyone wanting to fly between Guernsey and Alderney, won't face the new fees.

Aurigny said it had to introduce the charge to make changes because so many had previously been made to bookings for flights between Alderney and Southampton which meant some flew with last minute empty seats which other customers could have benefitted from.

To counteract this change in charges, Aurigny has cut the price of flights between Southampton and Alderney by £2 each way for all future bookings.

The reductions apply to all publicly available fares on the carrier’s website or ticket outlets.
